"Computer says no" - the response that many mortgage applicants often receive

In the robotic world of finance where sometimes mortgage applications can be made by a computer, client the Earl Shilton Building Society understands the importance of being treated like an individual and prefers to take the human perspective with its customers.

Indeed recently Audrey Green, Business Development Director at the Society commented, “Here at the Earl Shilton we strongly believe that every mortgage application is different and should be dealt with individually, rather than a computer declining it simply because it doesn’t meet strict criteria. Therefore our friendly mortgage team is on hand to talk to customers face to face and provides a human perspective on their requirements.”

One such case was Claire Lenthall, a first-time buyer from Leicester who has been able to get onto the property ladder thanks to the Earl Shilton. Disillusioned with the high street mortgage lenders, Claire instead opted for a mortgage product from the local building society and was full of praise for their service. Employees take up their new roles at ESBS

Client Earl Shilton Building Society is pleased to announce two new appointments.

The Society says goodbye to one valued Chief Executive and welcomes another from the Market Harborough Building Society. The Society has also appointed a new director to join its team.

New director Audrey Green and Chief Executive Paul Tilley will take up their new roles with nearly 40 years experience between them.

Paul (46) from Desborough will leave his post as Head of Business Services and Compliance at Market Harborough Building Society to take over as Chief Executive from Neville Thompson, following Neville’s retirement after 21-years of service with the Society.

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to join the team at such a well-respected Society as the Earl Shilton, which has a great reputation for delivering outstanding personal service focused on the needs of its members and is also in excellent financial health.” Paul commented.

“I hope to bring an energy and enthusiasm to take the business through its next stage of development in the interests of our members.”

Paul is also a Magistrate in his spare time and has two children with his wife Amanda.

Audrey will take up her new title of Business Development Director to become the eighth member on the board. She will also have to take on extra responsibilities as required by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

She said: “I am very pleased to have been appointed director here at the Society. Over the years my job has changed quite substantially from on-the-road sales to a more operational role with increased responsibility for the day-to-day running of our two branches, particularly as the ever growing demands of the FSA has meant more work for the chief executive and the finance director.

“Whilst I will also now be more involved with this work, I look forward to my time on the board and putting a different point of view across as we continue to take the Society forward.”

ESBS Take to the Airwaves

After the success of its TV commercial, client The Earl Shilton Building Society has now taken to the airwaves with a new radio campaign.

The 30 second ad, which will appear regularly on Oak FM throughout January, February and March this year focuses on mortgages at the Society and how customers can talk to their friendly staff about their individual mortgage requirements, rather than relying on a computer to make the decision based on strict criteria as often happens in the robotic world of finance.

New TV Commercial for Client

Anyone watching ITV1 this week in the Central East region will be able to see a new TV commercial for The Earl Shilton Building Society, following months of hard work by the Unsworth Sugden PR team.

Our PR department has been busy liasing between the client, ITV and the production company in order to produce this 30 second ad aimed at increasing brand awareness.

The commercial was first shown on Monday morning (26th October) and will appear on your TV screen at regular intervals until early Sunday evening (1st November).

The ITV Central East region incorporates the majority of the East Midlands, with its catchment area going from Lincoln down to Peterborough, across to Rugby and up as far as the southern part of the Peak District.
