Client highly commended at national awards

Posted by Dave Toyn
June 17th, 2010

Longstanding Unsworth Sugden client, the Earl Shilton Building Society, has been recognised as one of the country’s top children’s account providers at a national awards ceremony.

The Society was highly commended in the Best Children’s Account Provider category at the 2010 Moneyfacts Awards, which were held at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel in London last Friday. A representative from the Unsworth Sugden PR team accompanied employees from Earl Shilton to the awards, which were hosted by ITN News’ Economics Editor, Daisy McAndrew.

This was the first year that Earl Shilton has been nominated  at these awards, so to finish second only to the winners in its category was a fantastic achievement.

Subsequent work by the PR department has seen the story feature in both the Hinckley Times and the Leicester Mercury.

Earl Shilton school visits ancient tomb

Pupils from Weaver’s Close Primary School in Earl Shilton visited the stone coffin at David Wilson East Midlands’ The Lanterns development last week for a chance to see this much talked about artefact for themselves.  Archeologists from the Battle of Bosworth Heritage Centre joined in to give the children an overview of the tomb’s possible historial importance whilst they went about sketching it.  Coverage of the visit appeared in the Leicester Mercury on Saturday.  We now think the coffin could be in fact Roman, making it around 2000 years old!

Was this King Richard III’s tomb?

November 18th, 2008

Last night the BBC’s The One Show broadcast a feature about David Wilson East Midlands The Lanterns development in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire where a supposed medieval tomb was buried. Forming part of an ornate 100 year old water feature, the stone artefact was brought to David Wilson’s attention by Barwell resident and former gardener Reg Colver. Thinking it could be the lost coffin of King Richard III, which is recorded to have been used as a container for water, Reg then approached the Battle of Bosworth Heritage Centre and the rest as they say is history!

After learning about the find, the Unsworth Sugden PR team got in touch with The One Show and managed to organise a visit with Dan Snow… and we’re now on the case to support David Wilson East Midlands in their bid to arrange visits from local children who will be able to see this exciting artefact for themselves before it is donated to the Heritage Centre next year.

Watch this space for more news and updates on this facinating project!
