October PR Pic of the month

Posted by emmafarthing
October 28th, 2011

Pupils from St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Burton Latimer were provided with bright yellow high-viz slap it wrist bands thanks to a colourful donation from David Wilson South Midlands. The donation coincides with National Walk to School Month which takes place throughout the month of October and aims to keep them visible on their walk to school, as well as raise awareness of safety and levels of noise while pupils walk to and from school. Thanks a lot to our brilliant photographer Steve Baker who went along to snap the children looking extremely pleased with their new wrist bands!

Client David Wilson Mercia is ready for Halloween at its Shrewsbury site, Chatham Park, as one of the construction team has been growing pumpkins on his very own on site vegetable patch! Derek Allman, a forklift driver for the division, is growing a variety of vegetables including the seasonal pumpkins after his granddaughter wanted some to take to school for Halloween. His patch now includes potatoes and cabbages, and is doing so well he has now started handing out his produce to staff and residents at Chatham Park. Even our photographer Toby Savage, who took some great pictures of Derek with his vegetables, recieved a cabbage to take home with him.

The big launch at Newton Park

Posted by emmafarthing
August 1st, 2011

Last month I was lucky enough to join client David Wilson East Midlands and around 300 homebuyers to celebrate the launch of Newton Park, a new homes development located on the former site of RAF Newton in Nottinghamshire. David Wilson and it’s development partner Bellway, paid homage to the history of the site by hosting an aviation themed event and invited local residents to come along and celebrate the unveiling of four brand new showhomes.

The PR team worked hard to arrange the day’s events, ensuring the day was a success. The event started with a ribbon cutting ceremony when Group Captain CB ‘Sid’ Adcock BA RAF (Retd), who was the last station commander to serve at RAF Newton, officially marked the new showhomes as open. Subsequent highlights throughout the day included an RAF Newton heritage display by local author Tim O’Brien, music from Nottingham Jazz and the complimentary hog roast. And no aviation themed launch event would be complete without a fly over and air display by an actual RAF Chipmonk.

PR Snap Shot of the Month

Posted by emmafarthing
March 30th, 2011

March’s PR snap shot of the month shows members of Biggleswade Scouts, all smiles, as client David Wilson South Midlands, makes a donation of £500.

The 219 members, aged between eight and 18, will see the money spent on the two Beaver colonies for their ‘The Beds Giant Country Sleepover’, as well as some of it being allocted as the first prize for the grand draw, to help raise more funds for the scout group.

The remainder of the money will be used throughout the year to support other events and activities.

Jackie Day, Sales Director at David Wilson, which has a development of new homes in Biggleswade called The Maythorns, comments, “When we were approached by Biggleswade Scout Group to make a donation, we didn’t hesitate in saying yes. The scout group is an important part of the local community and we are delighted to be able to support in such a positive way.”

Cows Moo-ving to New Home

Posted by Hannah Elwell
March 16th, 2010

A pair of life sized model cows having been looking for a new home as client, David Wilson Mercia’s new homes development in Banbury draws near to completion.

The project, which is named Moo-ve, is being built on the town’s former cattle market.  The pair of cows were named Daisy and Grace by a local primary school and have stood proud outside the development’s marketing suite.

Earl Shilton school visits ancient tomb

Posted by Hannah Elwell
December 15th, 2008

Pupils from Weaver’s Close Primary School in Earl Shilton visited the stone coffin at David Wilson East Midlands’ The Lanterns development last week for a chance to see this much talked about artefact for themselves.  Archeologists from the Battle of Bosworth Heritage Centre joined in to give the children an overview of the tomb’s possible historial importance whilst they went about sketching it.  Coverage of the visit appeared in the Leicester Mercury on Saturday.  We now think the coffin could be in fact Roman, making it around 2000 years old!
